I attended Morton College and studied electronics. I worked at Western Electric Hawthorne Works as a test and repair engineer. Met my husband there. We lived in Wheaton for about 25 years. After my husband retired we started a home repair business. My husband and I helped build a school and vocational center in a poor barrio in the Dominican Republic. We have three grandchildren 6, 8, and 10. We moved out to Elgin to help our daughter when our son in law went back to Iraq for his third tour. We closed our business to help our grandkids with elearning.
School Story:

My favorite school story is the blizzard of 1967. We walked down the middle of Harlem and west bowling. It cost $.50 a game.

When I look back at living in Stickney I realize how wonderful it was. It’s amazing to realize that so few moved; I went to school with the same people from kindergarten through high school graduation. Paul Merrion is the only person I remember moving in to Stickney. We were in and out of everyone’s house. We didn’t even have a key to our front door; it was never locked. What are your memories?
